In this second post about Junkgirl, she describes the night her lover overdosed on heroin. The police supposedly tested the smack and found it to be 94% pure. That batch later killed another friend of Junkgirl’s. I’m not sure if Junkgirl has ever sat and tallied the deaths of friends from overdose, AID’s, and Hep C. There are some numbers best left uncounted.
Corey’s amputation revisited now that he’s walking with his new prosthetic leg. He shows how it attaches and talks about phantom pains.
The narrative of the Ronald Reagan presidency and it’s descendants has imposed a social narrative, the outcome of which has been a long series of “painful adjustments” for the American people. We have been forced to take on the “sense” or meaning of life. But when we search the realm beyond words, meaning demeans us. I think of Moby as an anti-narrative, an incarnation of many “painful adjustments.” In the video, Moby talks about meeting with Obama in 2006, consultations with the pyramids, and Biblical Rights.
Update on Corey’s amputation. He had his leg removed because of CMT (Charcot Marie Tooth Syndrome). He’s already fitted with a prosthesis and walking.
I’m drifting back to August again. The hottest August on record. Nothing like heat to make the pot boil. In the alley behind Red’s house, a young male Pit Bull claws his way through chainlink. So somebody in that house puts him on a three-foot cable out in the hot sun. No water.
